The truth is that middle class U.S. consumers are tapped out. Most families are just scraping by financially from month to month. For most Americans, there simply is not a whole lot of extra money left over to go shopping with these days.

We don't want to know the truth.

Look how happy an economics master is with govt math of any variety or validity.

The local, state, and federal, governments aren't helping either when they push for new taxes because they need; a new library, a new swimming pool, a new stadium, more money for foreign aid, more money to train our educators, more money to train our LEO's, etc... Then they say things like; It's only a penny on the dollar...  It's only $5 on the thousand... It's a quality of life issue... etc... and it's happening at least once a year...... Most people don't even receive that much of a pay raise every year and it's a drain on the disposable cash of the working and middle class.

Perhaps these public officials should have to take some business courses.

What don't they understand about taxes being regressive?

Oh! That's right they need those taxes to pay their own pay check as they give themselves 5% to 10% pay raises because they're special...

I'mma thinkin' that any pay raises for people working in the public sector should be voted on by the public every year. Make it easy. They all get the same raise and when we vote we have the option of -10% to +10%, so we all have 21 possible choices of what kind of pay raise they're going to receive, on their paychecks and they get whatever it averages out too.

I'd freeze all federal pay at minimum until we are cutting the debt and cut everyone to below 100k. Cut all foreign aid... cut the pentagon by half atleast and wind down the military. It's also time for some natural selection... unless you are verifiably disabledyou are cut off. Not one more dime... no exceptions. It's just flat ridiculous that half the population are net takers.

Cut off ALL benefits to everyone convicted of rioting, looting, and other felonies during protests to start with.. Another thing is instead of raising the tax on gas to support the bus service, make the riders pay for the increase and use smaller vans or busses instead of the big ones they use..

They'd just move to another state and get their benefits there. Hm.m..m... Maybe all the handouts need to be federalized. I can see where someone could be drawing handouts from two or three states with the current system.

Last yr there were posts about a woman getting checks from every state from NY to FL.. She made the trip every month for years and was reported to every state.. NONE of them did anything.. Their job is to give out the checks, not to stop you from getting them..
