Eric I posted this at the other forum but since you said you are going to hang around here for a while, I thought this might be of interest to you.

This record setting jump from 23 miles up is being carried live on Discovery Channel. He is still ascending. His current altitude is 57,000 feet. In order to reach the 23 mile plateau he must ascend to 121 thousand plus feet. I cannot even imagine what will happen to his body when he breaks the sound barrier.

It has been completed... Felix Baumgartner has traveled faster than the speed of sound, achieving Mach 1.24 — 833.9 miles per hour. He did so after falling from 128,120 feet above sea level. This means Baumgartner is the first human being to travel faster than the speed of sound without being inside a craft.

I checked last week, then again this morning, and the countdown clock was at 1 hour, but went to church and got busy doing other things. Thanks for the update.

This was astounding to me. Heights start getting to me on a five foot wave, lol.

I am fascinated by adrenaline junkies...how they are forever trying to get that sensation of the rush that I avoid like the plague. I would suspect that they don't sit in front of the TV very well or tend towards stability.

I was chatting with someone the other day came up with the thought that this could be some guys' version of being drama queens....a way to get an emotional charge....just without peers, or false eyelashes.....
