| Our presents are wrapped and under the tree. Whew!
If I had to sit in a gym on bleachers for that long, Joanie, my butt and especially my back would really hurt.
But, it is a great morning... I must admit.

| All shopping complete except (so can it be complete?) for the in-laws and my mother.
Suggestions? They don't need clothes, knick knacks, or slippers. I'm at a loss...

| Fruitcake.....this is the second year in a row I did not make Mom's fruitcake. I changed the name years ago because of the bad rap fruitcake gets. Mine is a fruit and nut loaf. The ratio is not cake worthy.....8 cups of pecan halves, candied cherries, pineapple and chopped dates and only 2 cups of flour.......then brushed daily (7 days ) with peach brandy.
It is awesome. | |

| Got my presents wrapped too. Can't put them under the tree because we have a doggy that is still into ripping paper and chewing plastic. I'm hoping next year. Right now the presents are hidden inside my roll-top desk.
PS, the family feuds have already started about who's coming and who isn't. Ain't holidays grand??????
If there were no dates in fruitcakes they might be halfway edible.

| Ed, I am soooo glad to be in Alaska and 3400 mile away from the family feuds! The only feud our family up here gets into is over who is bringing what to supper, and that does not even qualify as a feud. | |

In laws......Gift certificate for dining, or perhaps a deep housecleaning service or auto detailing. Your mom needs a personal gift. Decided on a trilogy series of books for m-i-l. The story takes place in her home state. For f-i-l, I'm scooting over to the hobby store and picking up a Titanic model for him to assemble. Should keep him busy and out of m-i-l's hair while she reads. For my mom - some hand lotion I get from a local gift shop and a pretty picture frame with a picture of her visiting one of her childhood haunts - 75 years later. I think she will like that. She's not one for too much fuss. Oh...have to get zucchini bread baked today to mail to the sister and s-i-l.

| My mom, God rest her soul, loved to watch Lawrence Welk and when the dancing came on and Bobby danced, she would point at him, smile and say "There. That's my boy." Not her real boy, but she loved to watch him dance.
One year, I wrote to him and got an autographed photo of him with a note to her from "your boy, Bobby". I had it framed and she kept it on her dresser.
