PHONE CALLS

What can be done about the calls from unknown people that never reply when answering the 5-10 calls every day?? Of course, the phone company can stop calls from the numbers, but charge for the service.. WHY can't the politicians pass laws with severe enough penalties that it wouldn't be worth it for the places to call??? ANY hints would be appreciated..

Are you talking about companies that don't leave a message on your answering machine?  I use my machine to screen my calls.  If they don't leave a message, screw 'em.

Can we assume that you are on the "do not call" list?

EDIT:  The fine is $16,000 per call if you are on the DNC list.  In order for the government to do something, you MUST MAKE A COMPLAINT.

Yes, I am on the do not call list for my home phone and cell phone... (I just verified both numbers are on the list). I have reported 3 of them today, all to my home phone.. They never answer when I say "hello" and never leave a message.. I tell them to take me off of their call list..

Sounds like you have a stalker.

I wouldn't answer the phone. Let your machine answer it for you.
