This is not about the Charlotte's Webb medicinal extract.

From NorthEscambia.com

Quote :
A poll released Monday shows that 88 percent of Florida voters support allowing adults to legally use marijuana for medical purposes, bolstering the arguments of advocates who have placed a constitutional amendment on the November ballot seeking legalization.

The poll, conducted by Quinnipiac University, indicates widespread support across political and demographic lines — Republicans and Democrats, men and women, young and old — for legal medical marijuana if it is prescribed by physicians. The constitutional amendment needs approval from 60 percent of voters to pass.

“If Vegas were giving odds on medical marijuana becoming legal in Florida, the bookies would be betting heavily,” Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University poll, said in a statement released with the results.

Support for the idea has grown slightly since a Quinnipiac poll in November 2013 indicated 82 percent of voters approved of legalization. Since that poll, a group spearheaded by prominent Orlando trial lawyer John Morgan finished gathering enough petition signatures to place the issue on this year’s general-election ballot and also received a sign-off from the Florida Supreme Court.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and Republican legislative leaders wanted the Supreme Court to block the constitutional amendment, contending that the proposal was far broader than billed. For example, House Speaker Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel, described the proposal as being “about the Coloradofication of Florida, where the end game is a pot shop on every street corner.”

But the Supreme Court, in a 4-3 ruling, allowed the amendment to move forward, finding that the wording of the ballot title and summary would not mislead voters.

When I saw the news story about the little girl that suffers horribly/painfully from seizures and that there is a specific strain of marijuana that can ease her suffering...it should have already been passed!...Hope the pinheads in Tallahassee get it right....Amazing that the Florida Sheriff's Association is opposing medical marijuana...can't imagine the lack of logic...

Just legalize it - period. Think of the reduced prison/jail loading - and tax money saved. Put some criminals out of business too!

The little girl from Pensacola should be getting her MM soon. The house and senate passed it, and Gov. Scott, although he want more stringent controls, said he would sign it into law. That is the Charlotte's Web stuff that prevents seizures.

Although I have not used pot in the past, I would love to see it legalized and taxed (local, state, and federal) like alcohol and regular tobacco with EVERY penny going towards the debt.. There goes the debt in a matter of 2-3 years..

You could about double whatever taxes are brought in because of the reduced cost of enforcement. Billions....

Tried it once.
Did inhale.
The smoke didn't bother me like I thought it would (not a smoker) but it did have a funny taste.

After I tried it I realized I probably should not have drank a hurricane before the smoking the joint.
Not a good idea right before your first toke.  Too many things were going in circles around me that evening.

It had some bad consequences, but I definitely would do it again if it was legal. Just no drinking beforehand.
It should have been legalized years ago. I do believe pot is a better drug to use than alcohol.

I also believe everyone needs some extra comfort some days. Absolutely not every day, but some days.

BTW, I could probably get a prescription for a medical condition I have, but not if I let my doctor read this post. :-)

Glad to hear the medical marijuana is on it's way to be passed and may relieve human suffering...Recreational...legalize it and tax it more than cigarettes...As 'nochain' said would be a huge savings on just those incarcerated on minor drug related offenses...
