| My Golden Retriever allows me to maintain residence in his house, boat, motorhome. I am fortunate, and he knows it. He has his own Christmas tree, and permits others to offer gifts that stay on his extra large pillow/mat in front of the fire place, but does not always allow them to be used without permission. The A/C is set to keep him comfortable year 'round, and his favorite treats are procured in very large quantities.
I am not sure if I will be subjected to this kind of treatment when said Golden has moved on to the heaven side of this equation.

| Writ, how is it that I never knew you had a four footer? You are cagey for sure!
A Golden? Those are super four leggers.
You have been holding out, my man. Please share more.
You know that I do. | |

Guess I don't know why you didn't know. Now that you mention it, I'm not sure it ever came up. He's a wonderful dog. Not sure how to describe him. Smart, sweet, lovable, damn near perfect dog. He's my buddy. We take so much for granted I think. When I get in bed and read....he's there with his head on my chest. I've never come home when he was not waiting with a toy ready for me. Got to say, if what we want to describe as love could be demonstrated in this life....I'd have to say he could do it better than I.

"Smart, sweet, lovable, damn near perfect dog." Pretty well describes the way I feel about my Paige. Sophie? Maybe not so much, but like you say, in bed with them all snuggled up, there is no better feeling. Just love it when they greet the homecoming with a toy and a wag. Nothing says homecoming better! I'm happy to hear that you have a glorious 4 legger in your family.

| Love that picture, Stormy! That is exactly what Buddy likes to do. We have a phrase for it now - "give huggies!" - and he knows he has permission to do the huggy thing. It was teaching him that it is not OK to hug everyone like this anytime or anywhere that was a bit difficult. | |

| Dogs can teach people a lot of lessons about love. I saw an article a couple of days ago by researchers who had done MRI's on dogs and they said their emotional patterns are identical to humans. They can feel happiness, sadness, depression and love just like we do. I know for a fact that my big boy has separation anxiety. If we leave town, we have to take him with us because he refuses to eat when we're away. That's okay though, because I don't enjoy myself much when I'm away from him either. |

| We travel a lot... mostly to P'cola and back to Hoover. Our two pups start getting excited when I pack my laptop in the case. All eyes are then on me as I pack other things. | |

| When we start packing up our laptop, Buddy knows we'll be on the road for the day. He'll stand in front of my husband and wait for his harness and leash.
Bud rides along with us most of the time. :-)

| When I start putting on my shoes my dog knows I'm going somewhere and sits there waiting. If I tell him he has to get dressed too, he runs over to where his collar is laying and jumps up for me to put it on him. Once the collar is on, he knows he's ready to go. I can tell him they "don't let dogs go" wherever I'm off too and he gets depressed, runs to the couch and puts his head on the arm to sulk. They know about half of what we're saying most of the time, I'm convinced of that. |

| I love dogs and while I've previously had cats, I am much more of a "dog person" than a "cat person" and only had cats because my life didn't allow me to properly 'tend to a dog. I am very happy that I now get to share my cousin's family's dogs, Ben and Callie, who technically live in the cabin next door, but spend a lot of time with me. | |
