Angry local who must not have gotten home soon enough with the eggs and milk crosses tourist driving like someone's grandmother.

Apparently both know bad words, insulting gestures and one carries a gun. It's not just the gangstas shooting each other up....this time the shooter lives in waterfront property on Ono:

This may turn into a stand your ground issue. The shot guy actually initiated the confrontation by trying to get into the man with the guns car. That said we enter a gray area at best. The man may have had a right to defend himself. Disparity of force comes into play based on age weight and conditioning. ...going to be an interesting case. I hope the shooting victim survives and returns to his family.

Yes, but the bigger picture here is that there has been a philosophy of develop the beach and bring more tourists...more, more, more..at any cost. Roads are jammed, locals are frustrated, it takes twice as long to get anywhere, twice as long to get service in stores and two to four hours to get into many restaurants.

This may well be a sad side effect of packing too many rats in sand and sun lined cage.

What I cannot figure out is why a guy who lives in a gated community, on an island, in a town that probably has the lowest violent crime rate in the south would be driving around with a loaded gun in his vehicle.

I disagree with the mayor of OB who said this kind of thing was unlikely to happen again.

So you remember that rats in a cage study...they all killed each other. That's an angle I never considered. What will we do when they pave Paradise...?

Well, Teo, locals foolish enough to make their way to Pensacola Beach midday any given summer Saturday knows that we have already begun to tip the scale in making our local beaches undesirable places to visit.

We are paving what-used-to-be-paradise as fast as we can by courting out-of-state investors who have no interest what they are doing to the resources that draw people here.
