PostSubject: Charles Keating IV killed in Iraq   Charles Keating IV killed in Iraq EmptyWed May 04, 2016 4:02 pm

It's all over the news today. First of all, it's way past time for Americans to realize we have boots on the ground in Iraq.
Second, I'm sure this young man was an upstanding person who served his country honorably and we should have nothing but praise for.

But thirdly, CNN just said he came from a distinguished family with a long history of serving their country.
Really? Grandpa Charles Keating? Anyone ever heard of the Keating 5? Grandpa's name is not famous or distinguished, it's infamous.
Last I heard, the S&L scandals were called scandals because they were scandalous, not because they made the perps into distinguished people.

They should cover this young man for what he did in his own life and not even note that he's part of that family. It certainly doesn't honor his memory to remind anyone of who his grandfather was and try to smear lipstick on the family pigs.

Yeah because you'd never bring the family ties up....to condemn coverage and then do the same thing here speaks volumes....It's ok to smear 'Grandpa's name' and then say this hero should be covered for what he accomplished and sacrificed....but would expect no less.....Distinguished Service Career no matter anything else but thanks for attempting to cheapen the sacrifice of this young man by adding in about his 'scandalous family'....'They'... should cover but it's appropriate to do what was done in the above post----DISGUSTING!.....

A Navy Seal gets killed and the focus turns to his GRANDFATHER????? Who was also a combat vet by the way. Sure, like the younger Keating had anything to do with the K5.

And again it a miserable individual that would even mention that when talking about a servicemember making the ultimate sacrifice to defend the freedoms that allows those to smear his family and cheapen his service....it's really no wonder why society is as it is....can't even show some respect....

This man died serving our country... period. He has my highest respect. RIP Charles Keating IV.

From Briebart.com

Quote :
Charles Keating IV was a star athlete, city and regional champion at the 1,600-meter run in his sophomore, junior, and senior years at Arcadia High School in Phoenix, according to CNN. He was on the track team at Indiana University in 2004-2005.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Keating was planning to be married in November. His fiancée lives in Coronado, where he was based.

The battle in which he died is described by the Union-Tribune as beginning with a bombardment on Tuesday, after which hundreds of ISIS militants attacked the town of Telskuf from several directions. The Kurdish front lines were breached with “bulldozers and more than 10 car bombs.”

Keating, who was part of a team advising the Kurdish Peshmerga, was reportedly killed while helping the Kurdish forces perform a tactical retreat, as Islamic State fighters overran the town and attacked the command post.
