| Done to help prevent Sunni radicals... people that Iran fought when Iraq was controlled by Saddam Hussein... from taking over Iraq.
I think this is great. Cooperation between former enemies (Iran & Iraq) and a common enemy - Sunni ISIS rebels.
And best of all - without American troops.

| I would prefer that the Muslims handle it themselves.
If we offer support in the form of air support, yes, the action will be attributed to Obama.
It won't be much of a "war" if we don't have boots on the ground. All the smart bombs we're probably planning to drop don't come cheap, though. We have plenty of money, right?

Which may explain why he [cowh] made comments...boarded AF One and headed to Cali for some golf and fundraising...Agree...no boots on the ground other than to evacuate any Americans that may still be in country..If it wasn't deemed important enough the first go round then let's not try again....

| Maliki needs to resign - he is not even trying to find a compromise between Sunni's and Shiites. Iraq could quickly (if it hasn't happened already) turn into another Syria. I have a sneaky feeling we are going to be gradually dragged into this. | |

This is exactly what was warned against when one group is/or feels like they have been left out of the governing process...You've got to know that there's a real threat if Iran sends in troops to go against the insurgents..

| We need to stay out of the mess, BHO whiffed the ball on Iraq and wasted all of the effort and lives lost during the war. He should have listened to the military who wanted to leave advisory personnel in place rather than complete withdrawal. But he is good at not listening.......too busy running that uninformed mouth of his. | |

Agree....once the decision was made to withdraw then that decision needs to be followed... No advisors...No air support...Drone use only if there is a target that is a direct threat to the United States...The only exception would be as done to deploy enough to evacuate any Americans there....'Noncombatants'...call them what they would really be...TARGETS with NO support...

| Now that an oil refinery is captured (depends on who you hear it from), I see that the poor little oil companies have decided they can bleed some more cash out of consumers at the pump... greedy bastards.
Most of the Iraqi oil goes to China, doesn't it?
Since the Keystone Pipeline approval is stalled by our do-nothing Administration, Canada has decided they will try to build the Northern Gateway pipeline to the Pacific to serve Asian markets (AKA China). Canadian oil has been historically cheaper than the "world price", but who knows how that will last.

| BHO lack of leadership has never been more apparent than during the recent and not so recent events in the Middle East. The bottom line is he HAS NO PLAN. | |

He's meeting with his national security team!.. He said they are 'focused' and 'working hard' on this situation..In other words--wait long enough and it too shall pass..There's been enough time and the Americans there should have already been evacuated ...His lack of leadership exampled by his infamous 'red line' in the sand in Syria has demonstrated that point of 'has no plan'... If the rules of engagement are so screwed up for the combat troops can't imagine what the 'noncombatants' would be subjected to in order to defend themselves...
