"Listen to the people? Heh heh haw haw oooooweeee, that's a good one."

I think they should and will hold hearings... once the political posturing concludes.

I thought the guy from Nevada was a good pick but he was too smart and declined. Who would want to endure the political and personal BS of going through the nomination process with those morons in Congress?

The political posturing began before Scalia was even at the funeral home....it's all political and the side that wants the choice to be made/confirmed changes with whichever the party that controls the Senate....This time the democrats are arguing one way and in the future with different circumstances their argument would reverse...Just as it has/is/will for the republicans....In an election cycle year....with summer approaching...there will be no rush for the Senate to take this matter into consideration...it may not be correct or fair but that matters on which side of the fence you're on at the time....For years the republican leadership (?) has caved and not done what they said they would do....based on their record certainly wouldn't be surprised to see Mitch tuck tail and give in to the cowh.....

This Republican bluster may rise up to bite 'em on the ass. Consider if the Senate majority is Democrat after the election and Hillary is POTUS... she may appoint a liberal and have it confirmed.

From what I have read (and admittedly, I have not read much about it), it seemed to me that Obama is considering more moderate people for appointment... even Republicans. I don't know the details, but it seems that one appointment was vetted somehow and recommended a few years ago by a Republican congress. Maybe it was the Nevada Governor, I dunno.

I had heard that too... but also that he had declined consideration.

I heard that Obama was trying for a centrist who the Senate might confirm too. I agree that they are playing a dangerous game by holding off on the hearings.
Don't just think of who Hillary would nominate-what if Bernie is the one doing the nominating? I guarantee you he's not going for any centrist.

He just won Michigan this week and seems to do better in the north than Hillary. I wouldn't count him out.

The Nevada Gov. refused.....proving that he's not an idiot or pawn to be used by the cowh....many federal level judges were vetted and approved [very high percentages] but unfortunately or not the committee and/or the senate can and has the power to reject simply on 'philosophical ' differences....which means it's political and that really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone....

It's not a surprise.
What might just be a surprise is that after Republicans refuse to confirm, new President Sanders nominates a near Socialist and the new Senate that's put there because young people came out to vote, let old Bernie have exactly what he wants.
