Nestle Purina has voluntarily recalled Purina ONE Beyond Our White Meat Chicken & Whole Barley Recipe adult dry dog food for a possible salmonella risk.

The recall affects 3.5-pound bags with a best by date of Oct. 2014 and a production code of 31071083. The bags feature a UPC code of 17800 or 12679.

In August, Proctor & Gamble recalled a variety of pet foods for a possible salmonella risk.

Among those foods that were recalled are: Eukanuba Dog Food Base Large-Breed Mature Adult; Eukanuba Dog Food Base Maintenance Mature Adult; Eukanuba Dog Food Base Maintenance Puppy; Eukanuba Dog Food Base Small-Breed Adult; Eukanuba Dog Food Base Small-Breed Puppy; Eukanuba Dog Food Breed Specific Boxer Adult; Eukanuba Dog Food Breed Specific Chihuahua Adult; Eukanuba Dog Food Breed Specific Labrador Retriever Adult; Eukanuba Dog Food Premium Performance 30/20 Adult; Eukanuba Dog Food Professional Feeding Bag Small-Breed Puppy and Eukanuba Dog Food Weight Control Large-Breed Adult.

The Iams brands that were recalled include: Iams Dog Food Healthy Naturals Chicken Adult; Iams Dog Food Healthy Naturals Weight Control Adult; Iams Dog Food Premium Protection Chicken Adult; Iams Dog Food Pro-Active Health Large Breed Mature Adult; Iams Dog Food ProActive Health Large Breed Senior Plus; Iams Dog Food ProActive Health Large Chunks Adult; Iams Dog Food ProActive Health Small-Breed Adult and Iams Dog Food Proactive Health Small-Breed Puppy.

Several brands of Iams dry cat foods were recalled. Those are: Iams Cat Food Healthy Naturals Chicken Adult; Iams Cat Food Healthy Naturals Weight Control Adult; Iams Cat Food ProActive Health Chicken Adult; Iams Cat Food ProActive Health Chicken Kitten; Iams Cat Food ProActive Health Digestive Care Adult; Iams Cat Food ProActive Health Hairball Adult; Iams Cat Food ProActive Health Hairball Mature Adult; Iams Cat Food ProActive Health Weight Control & Hairball Adult; Iams Cat Food ProActive Health Weight Control Adult and Iams Cat Food Professional Feeding Bag Chicken Adult.

That's really scarey, Eric. Thanks for posting. I've always used Eukanuba until my Vet put my ladies on special diet. He swears by Science Diet saying it's the only one that hasn't been recalled, but who's to say it won't be.

I'm guessing we all know about Chinese rawhide, right?

I recall the chicken jerky chews from China were contaminated and were recalled. Are there others?

I'm not sure, Eric, but only buy USA chewies. Jeffers is my best source and they clearly mark which are US made vs. Chinese. I made the mistake of trying to buy some at Target once and they wouldn't sell them when I got to the register, so I'm guessing it's a fairly large problem.
