| I went tubing on the Coldwater last Saturday and Monday night I felt out of sorts.
Tuesday morning, I woke up with a fever and a swollen rash-like "shiner" below my left eye and the side of my face.
After three trips to the doctor, three shots in the rump, numerous hot compresses, two extremely fitful (delirious) nights (temp 103°), lots of antibiotics, I can honestly say I still have a shiner and some swelling that partially obscures my vision. Oh, and now my tear duct is stopped up and I look like I'm a crybaby.
Strange.
I mentioned the Coldwater Creek because I suspect that something got splashed into my face out there. The creek was kinda brownish.
Anyway, that has kept me off the forum more than I prefer.
I hope y'all have a pleasant Saturday and that your football teams win!

Thanks, Jake. Now I just have to figure out how to take this medicine. Actually, it's not mine...

Yeah, still taking antibiotics. I just pulled dead skin off the area where my "eye bags" are located. It was like I got a sunburn and it peeled.

| I am glad you are better. I can't figure out what might have caused this. A spider bite from a brown recluse can cause skin to die and slough off.
It sounds as if you have cellulitis, but I've never heard of a case where a person had it on his face. You have no blisters, correct? If you did, I would have to question possible shingles.

| My brother had shingles... bad. If it wasn't for shingles on his forehead, he would still be alive today.
He had it for what seemed like a couple of years. Had nerve blocks and countless doctor visits. He had it bad! REAL BAD!
He found that Tylenol and whiskey at night would at least let him sleep. Yep. Killed his liver.
If he hadn't been a hospital head-hunter with incredibly good connections, he would have been denied a liver transplant. Got the transplant, and I'm told that his anti-rejection meds allowed an opportunistic melanoma to get established. Sadly, it killed him about a year after his transplant.
The lesson I learned from this is NEVER, NEVER TAKE ALCOHOL AND ACETAMINOPHEN TOGETHER!

| Both are liver killers but OK when used in moderation so your body can repair the damage they do.. | |
