Personal Photos

I did.  But it was the one we had last fall.  It wasn't a great picture, though.  Let me see if I can find it.  (It didn't jump out at me on a cursory search.)

I am using a consumer-version (not professional) Nikon D7000 and, in addition to the lens in my avatar, I have several zoom lenses and a prime lens (35 mm) for close-up & portrait pics.

I am not a good photographer, though.  I just take a LOT of photos and odds are that some of them will be right.  You don't get to see the ones I reject and there are tons of 'em, lol.

Here are a couple of photos I like.  The first one is Christine at a campout.  She didn't like it at first, saying she was sweaty.  That was taken years ago on film with an old Minolta.



I like panoramic photos which are just a bunch of pics stitched with software.  Here's one of the Bathtub Races out at Quietwater Beach.  The white buoys are the three RED BULL things the bathtubs must paddle around and return back to the beach.  People line up in the water and splash the contestants and shoot 'em with super soakers.  There are a couple of "bathtubs" in the pic.  This photo file size is huge and may look like it is full sized when it loads, but click on it and you should see a full-resolution version.

She is very pretty.

That picture reminds me of someone who is enjoying the sultry moment, then having to look over at you glaring with the camera and thinking ah, I love you but now................... and then it turns out sultry lustrous perfect.

Here's a pic that is a composite of 90 photos.  The lens I used can only focus on a small portion and everything else is blurry.  I used a program called "Control My Nikon" to automatically focus and take 90 pics, each one of a different portion in focus, then used a program called Zerene Stacker to look at the 90 pics and merge just the parts that are in focus.

This is one of Bob's portable tube radios... a Belmont Boulevard, that was made around 1945.  The lighting is horrible but this is my first successful stacked photo. If you zoom in, you can see incredible detail that you won't ordinarily see from one photo.

Okay, you can't zoom in, so here's a zoom for ya.

At Gallery Night last Friday, the couple that came with us had a friend that got married, so I brought my good camera and tried to take photos.  I didn't want to be obnoxious, so I took photos without a flash and it was really dark.  

They had a huge drone that took aerial photos.  Here is a couple of photos I took.

The full-sized version of this picture has resolution and sharpness good enough to read the writing on the front of the camera lens.

Today, I put the GoPro out on the rail and controlled the camera from an iPad app.

Full Resolution Panoramic (4.5 megs.)  It's a full 360 degree panoramic photo.

This is what last week's Bands on the Beach concert looked like as the Reunion Band came on after their break.

The image system that our forum uses doesn't like big files like this.  I cannot show you a snapshot, but the full resolution panoramic has been compressed (lesser quality, but still full-sized) but it is still good for viewing.  Compressing got the file size down from 49 megs to 4.5 megs with no appreciable loss in quality.

Foggy up here today at 800' elevation in Hoover on Shades Mountain.

Saw a hole in one of the lamps over the pool table.  I wonder how it got there, he he... and why didn't the glass shatter?
