I just have 'em for a little peace of mind. Helps me sleep better knowing that I can defend myself if someone barges into the house in the middle of the night.
I removed my magazine last night and checked to make sure that I don't have a round in the chamber. Sure, it takes valuable time to chamber a round, but since my brother-in-law dropped his pistol and it went off and killed him, I'm leery about keeping a round in the chamber.
Great article Pk looks like we may be all extinct soon. Well I grew up in the 50s so I guess I have had the best life this planet could have ever provided. That movie "the Road" comes to mind . Guess canalbalism is in the future and then nothing for our children. Sad legacy we are leaving them.
Yep... we've had a good run. I don't think people realize how tenuous our existence is. It doesn't necessarily take a cataclysmic event to destroy a species... often it's just a seemingly insignificant random event. I've wondered what species will dominate after we're gone... insects would be my best guess... especially given the shape we'll leave the environment in.

I recently read an article touting nuclear energy based on the fact that there had not been a cancer cluster in Japan following the EQ and tsunami. I thought to myself, "Self, someone is trying to feed you a line of bullshit!"
Thanks, pkr. :/
