| I don't know who these yahoos are who are setting off fireworks anyways. We're celebrating summer solstice this weekend and literally have 24-hours of daylight right now. You cannot SEE fireworks... we don't even have a display for Independence Day... save them for New Years when it's dark 24 hours a day and everything is covered in snow and ice! | |

| Thanks for checking on me, E and Pkr. I am okay... a little down, I guess. I'm out of work on short term disability for an undetermined period of time (Orthopedic Surgeon and Physical Therapist have said anywhere between 12-wks and 6-months) for shoulder surgery. I had a misdiagnosed injury when I was 12-14 yrs old that caused this. Original diagnosis was rotator cuff injury, which I now know that children that young don't get. It was really a torn labram (labrum?), whatever. Anyhow 30-years later, I will be in PT for at least 6-wks just to get it ready for surgery... then ?? to recover from surgery. I probably would have posted sooner but I can't get internet service at my cabin. I use a mobile hotspot, which barely works. Sometimes. First signs of winter arrived a few days ago when we had our first snow of the season on 28 August 2015. I am looking forward to it as I tend to be more active in the winter, and this was not a particularly nice summer... terrible fire season followed by a cold, wet August that thankfully help put out most of the fires. I hope all is going well for everyone. XO to all | |

| Ricey, some of the best ortho surgeons in the country are right here in Pensacola, and Gulf Breeze.. They are the ones the athletes go to when they are injured and want to play again.. Dr Dabazies is in Pensacola and has done thousands of joint replacements and repairs.. His father was head of joint replacement at Tulane Medical School and has developed numerous things including techniques and joint parts used in surgery.. The Andrews Institute is in Gulf Breeze and is one of the best in the country.. Some of the patients seen by one or the other are Emmitt Smith from football and John Cena from WWE wrestling along with many many others.. Of course, Emmitt Smith is now retired, but not due to injuries.. John Cena is still wrestling and working out in the gym daily.. I hope you get great treatment and your recovery is 100%..
Cindy and I are currently in the motor home in NJ, about an hour north of Atlantic City. We are going to watch the Blue Angels air show there tomorrow, then head 50 miles away from NY City for a few days of my high school reunion, ending Sunday with a concert and fireworks at West Point, the Army Academy..

| Thank you, Jake. When I lived there after a near disastrous misdiagnosis by one of his esteemed colleagues, I was under the care of the wonderful Dr. Kirby Turnage and I owe him my ability to walk.
My orthopedic surgeon here used to be the team doctor for our hockey team and for a soccer team in the lower 48. He is very good and if I did not think so, our insurance would pay for me to fly to Anchorage or Seattle.

| I PM'd him and emailed him and got no response. I don't remember for sure, but I don't think his email account had been deleted. If his account had been deleted, my email to him would have been rejected by his server and I would have been sent a note back to me that it was not delivered... but that didn't happen. | |

| So we got a big snow storm a week ago... I got at least 6 - 8 inches at my place. Wet, heavy snow, which is very unusual for the Interior. It was really warm and most of it melted fairly quickly, which made a mess of things. Wet slushy paved roads and wet slushy, muddy dirt roads.
Then this happened (below). In a day and a half I got 16 inches of again, wet, heavy snow. Usually the snow here is very dry, light snow and it just starts and never stops all winter... slow and steady. So now that there has been over 2-feet of wet, slushy snow (and a lot of rain before that), the temperature is dropping (it's 14*F now). So driving on the pavement is like trying to drive on the ice in the Big Dipper, which is our ice rink. It's awesome. I'd prefer it to just get cold... go all the way to -20... then you get better grip on the ice.

As an aside, I found this map entertaining. I did not calculate, but when I saw it I was like, "Oh, so there's like 20 miles of high priority road to plow in the entire state of Alaska. Oh, and my road is not even on the map. Shocking." lol

I've never hashtagged anything in my life, but it seemed like a good time to start. lol

AFTER it warms up and dries up first. I'd hate to have residual ice patches under blowing snow.

I'd hate to have residual ice patches under blowing snow. Yeah, it is one icy mf-er tonight... high 20s. That's probably the worst for road conditions. We're supposed to get freezing rain this weekend.

The weather here has been gorgeous the past few days and there has been flash flooding in Tehachapi and there are cars and tractor trailers buried in mud on the 58 and the i5. More flash floods expected today. Hopefully people will stay in!
