Wow, that takes me way back in the Wayback machine! I was in gymnastics for years and used to be able to do that. I'm afraid to try it now, even though most of me is still pretty darn limber... 'cept that darn left leg! Looks a lot more difficult than it is though, I admit... But it sure looks cool!

I have seen a video of that with a bunch of dudes exploding their "fireworks" with sledge hammers. Crazy. I think I saw it a year or two ago. I'll see if I can find the video.
That one is a particularly good one

Wow, that is just... remarkably stupid. It's amazing what grown-ass folk will do when they get ahold of fireworks.

My son is retired AF EOD and has disarmed many IEDs and things. He's one of the lucky ones who still has all of the parts he was born with.. Right now, he's clearing bomb ranges that have been in use since before WW1 and finds chemical, biological, and explosive munitions, many from pre WW1... The ranges were sold to developers to be turned into housing developments since 2009.....

That last one is a doozie, isn't it. Blew the sledge hammer way out of his hand!

Eric, He's retired from the AF and lives west of Phoenix, AZ. He's been in the middle east and parts of Afghanistan a few times when he was still active duty.. He spends most of his time around Denver or in the Dakota's.. He normally goes up in the mountain ranges Monday mornings and comes back Friday afternoons. ALL of the time is on the clock..

Call me childish... Okay, WAY childish, but I'm into the stupid range when I mess with fireworks. I had a globe trotting neighbor who would make sure he was home on July 4th... To keep is house from burning down.
I am working on a carbide cannon. Add water to extremely stable carbide and it generates acetylene gas. So I'm taking it one step further using acetylene and oxygen gases. So far it's been a dud, but here's an example of what happens.

That looks like a shitpile of fun, so long as you treat it with the respect it is due and are safe with it.

I have read that it is pretty safe and they have even made glass carbide cannons that don't shatter when they're shot. I'm no expert, but you'd think that it would blow a glass cannon to smithereens.

Yes Eric, there were bombing ranges around Denver, in the Dakota's, and many many other places around the country.. They also used the Gulf of Mexico for practice around P'Cola, Eglin, and Tyndal by Panama City.. They still use many acres of land on Eglin for testing explosives and practice bombing. Every few years, a boat will find an old bomb in it's fishing/shrimp nets and EOD from Eglin comes out to disarm it. They found one on NAS last year that was from between WW1 and 2.

I had an old practice bomb from Old River next to Perdido Key. Found some .50 cal ammo (live) out there too. There was a lot of shooting going on out at Perdido Key.
I was looking for a place to anchor the boat for the night down between Ft. Walton and Navarre and they had live fire training out on the beach. Scared the Bejesus outta me. Grenades and automatic fire...

Once when my girlfriend took me on a tour around Denmark (all in one day... the country is SO small, lol!) as we were driving along the main highway that follows the coastline around the country all the sudden I heard rapid gunfire. And lots of it. It scared the shitall out of me. She dismissed my concerns, not understanding my American experience or concerns. As we came over the hill their military forces were just parked on the side of the road and they -- about 30 men -- were lined-up RIGHT OFF THE ROAD in the sand practice shooting w/fully automatic rifles. Freakin' AMAZED me. I asked her if we could stop so I could take a couple pictures, but she said they didn't take too kindly to that, which I found amusing in light of where they were practicing w/full-auto rifles.
