Free Custom Maps

I spent the last ten on my years making maps of Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, the city of Atlanta, Jefferson County Alabama, and electrical maps for Alabama Power, and environmental maps for Florida's DEP.

I have a $1,600 state of the art program on my laptop that is used to create maps with a database behind the visible map features. It is a complicated process to make a map and I'm looking for people that might want a special map to their house, to a place of business...whatever. I need to stay in practice.

We talkin' topo maps, or what? I don't imagine you have but I figured I'd ask anyways, but have you ever mapped a wind farm?

As Riceme asked, are they topo maps, or what? Is there any way you could show us a sample of some kind? Perhaps a map of Gulf Shores or Perdido?

How about a map of Navy Point for the bike rides/walks. Can it include start, finish, and distances??

Nope, never mapped a wind farm. I tried to get topo data for the US, and it was sever thousand dollars, but topo data is available online, but it is hit or miss.

Give me a location and I'll see what I can do.

That sounds like fun. The Start would be the parking lot next to the bridge and go both ways.

I know a few weeks ago and I rode my bike and saw a little sign that said 2.25 miles or something like that. I rode another 15 minutes, then went back to the parking lot by the bridge.

There are topos for most of the United States. Here is a screencap from the National Map project. The forum software degrades the image. It would be better to visit the website and see for yourself what the data looks like.

Hmmmmmmmm I found my house but the map still has a big tree that was cut down 2 1/2 years ago.. LOL

I could have dolled it up with trees, but I didn't. The PDF, link attached, looks better when it is opened up in Adobe Acrobat... as opposed to viewing it over the web, but it does display over the web.

Damn! I must have changed the scale a little. I see the scale bar at the bottom isn't 1000 feet anymore (1080', lol)

Sweetwater, Texas has a metric assload of turbines... HUGE windfarm. Do you need it more dialed-in than that? I can do better if you need. I'll PM or email you a local windfarm I'd like to see.

If you have a specific farm you want me to map out, an intersection would be handy, as well as a compass direction from that intersection... Or an address that I can use google to get me in the general location.

How did that trail map look? The trail really is as squiggly as it is shown.

I sent you the lats & longs for Sweetwater about an hour ago. Lemme take another peek @the trail map.

You've likely already figured this out, but the lats & longs for Sweetwater from that website are very wrong. I have the address to the site somewhere... lemme find it. Meanwhile, you've got the other local one I sentchya.
