What in HELL is wrong with these people?

Second grader is eating his pastry, thinks it is shaped like a gun, holds it up and says "bang, bang"... suspended for 2 days.

Here is another. A fifth grade girl found a piece of paper shaped like a gun in her pocket (grandfather made it for her). She was throwing it away and another student turned her in when he saw it. Other students called her a murderer.

She was chastised and reprimanded by school officials for bringing a gun to school...

Eric, the world has gone crazy. Thank God my kids are grown.

There used to be a time where the teacher would handle this very minor incident right in the classroom. No suspension, no big deal. And then if the child was causing real trouble in the classroom, the parents would support the teacher in disciplining their child.

But we are in crazy times.

UN. FREAKING. BELIEVABLE.

This country has gone plum nuts.

Sometimes school districts prove themselves in need of more education than the students they serve.

A LOT of the students graduate high school and still can't do math without a calculator.

Political correctness... It's the new reeducation camp.

Isn't it nice that they're offering counseling? Those poor children who were attacked by the evil pastry wielding 7 year old are probably scarred for life! I love the last sentence of the letter:

In general, please remind them of the importance of making good choices.

Maybe the school administration should follow its own advice about making good choices regarding the discipline of the students!

Pastry guns should be deemed illegal. I think we need to have a government agency research this one.

“I just kept on biting it and biting it and tore off the top of it and kind of looked like a gun,” the seven-year-old told Fox News.

“But it wasn’t,” he astutely added.

As Reason’s Hit & Run blog noted, Park Elementary School officials later offered counseling to other students who may have been traumatized by the pastry.

Senate Bill 1058 restricts the disciplinary options Maryland public school officials can use for any student who “brings to school or possesses” an image of a gun or an object that might look like a gun but isn’t one.

Students could also form their fingers in the shape of a gun without fear of reprisal.

The bill also includes a section mandating counseling for school officials who fail to distinguish between guns and things that resemble guns. School officials who fail to make such a distinction more than once would face discipline themselves.

I saw this today and thought it was apropos.
