Fla. high school student reportedly suspended after disarming gunman Published March 03, 2013
A 16-year-old Florida high school student says he was suspended for three days for wrestling a loaded gun away from a teen threatening to shoot.
Fox4Now.com reports that the student, who attends Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers, tackled the 15-year-old suspect on a school bus after he allegedly pointed the weapon at another student.
"I think he was really going to shoot him right then and there," said the student, who declined to be identified.
According to the referral the student received the following day, he was suspended for his role in an "incident" where a weapon was present and given an "emergency suspension," the station reported.
The boy's mother told Fox4Now.com her son was suspended because he refused to cooperate with the investigation, adding that he was scared.
The suspected gunman was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on school property and assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, the report states.
Sgt. David Valez of the Lee County Sheriff's Office told the station an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
School officials declined to a request for comment from Fox4Now.com due to privacy issues.

Theres your reason right there. Made himself look suspicious. Sure but the article said directly after that phrase that it was because he was SCARED. He's a KID, for crying out loud. And, made himself look suspicious of WHAT, exactly??

| Things that went through my mind was... Did this kid supply the weapon to the kid that was carrying it? Was he really an innocent bystander, or was he involved somehow? | |

So, he was less scared when he jerked the gun away from the other kid? I'm sure they'll un suspend him later on! |

I've read the articles on my Google News feed, and by all accounts the gun was in possession of the would-be shooter (w/a bus full of witnesses) and he disarmed the kid and wrestled him to the ground. Plus, the would-be shooter was arrested and charged... It only makes sense to me that LEO would have run the registration or if it was not registered, would have confirmed with all witnesses who was in possession of the firearm. Also, one of the articles stated there was a second kid who jumped in to assist in subduing the dirtbag kid... he was also suspended.

The school prob didnt have all of the facts & thats why both were suspended. Maybe premature but surely the school was being cautious instead. |
