Blackhawk down with 4 Army crew members and 7 Marines. Search and rescue in the area east of Navarre Bridge.

Prayers for all.

Unfortunately they have found human remains and officials are presuming all aboard are dead.

Sad indeed.

I wonder what happened. Do they put black boxes on choppers?

The fog was so dense...that may have played a part. It is hampering the search. Famiky members are now showing up on scene.

Not like civilian aircraft. Since they had a Marine patrol on board my guess is they were flying nap and flew into trees - it only takes one little hiccup or mechanical glitch for that to happen.

Last night a large helicopter flew over my house in northern Pace at a relatively low altitude without any lights on.  I'm thinking that it was probably the helicopter that crashed.

It was the first time I've ever seen an aircraft fly at night without lights.

Latest says it crashed in the water

"One of two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters participating in the routine exercise crashed near the base 50 miles (80 km) east of Pensacola, and rescue workers discovered debris about 2 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, the base said in a statement.

A U.S. military official, speaking on condition on anonymity, said the 11 service members aboard were presumed dead in what could be among the deadliest domestic military training accidents in years.

Eglin officials said the helicopter was believed to have gone down in the water. It was reported missing around 8:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday, when heavy fog had blanketed the region.

The Marines were part of a special operations unit from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

Four crew members and the helicopter were part of the Louisiana National Guard, assigned to an Army unit based in Hammond, Louisiana.

The second helicopter landed safely, the military said. Names of the missing troops were being withheld pending notification of next of kin."

The choppers were part of a night time training mission.

According to the General who held the news conference for the Louisiana National Guard, there is no black box only a transponder signal box.

Hits too close to home for me. My s-i-l is a Blackhawk crew chief, active duty. I told my daughter to hug him a little tighter today for us.

This is terrible news. My heart goes out to the families of these men. The marines were training from Camp Lejeune... These guys were Force Recon. Absolutely heartbreaking.
