The second book in Ken Follett's Century trilogy, "Winter of the World", is now available, but I haven't scored my copy yet.

Is anyone else reading the Century trilogy? As is usually the case with Follett's books, I loved "Fall of Giants."

Follett is one of my favorite authors. I read "Pillars of the Earth" in just a few days.The book was a present from my husband, and I stayed curled up in my recliner for days after Christmas that year. I literally couldn't put it down until I finished it.

I read "PILLARS OF THE EARTH" like you did, PB. No matter how many times I tried, I couldn't get into "FALL OF GIANTS." maybe I should try again. I noticed that its being made into a movie for TV. The movie version of Pillars wasn't that good, I thought.

"Giants" is being made into a movie? Hmmmm.....and they aren't even waiting for the sequels? I don't see how the movie can be too satisfying without the rest of the story!

I liked reading "Pillars" better than the movie, too, but then again I've rarely seen a movie that matches what I perceive in my own imagination as I read. However, I was rather impressed that the "Pillars" miniseries matched the story line so closely.

Granny, "Fall of Giants" does start out slow. There's a lot of character development going on there that does shed a light on what transpires later in the book. By the time the action starts, I felt like I knew the characters intimately, which is why I couldn't put it down.

I've loaned the book to a couple of friends who had the same reaction as yours, though. If you can give it another try, I think you'll be hooked, too.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My cat just gave the book all those pluses.

Kitty tends to try to lie on my computer keyboard as I type. Sometimes he hits the minus sign, sometimes it's the plus sign. Ah, well. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

He just did it again.

I'm currently reading Fall of Giants - about 20% in. I didnt have any trouble getting absorbed by it. The list of characters in the front does help a little.

A quick Google search did not show anything about Fall of Giants being made into video.
