You just can't make this stuff up: Statutory rape victim forced to pay child support

A Phoenix man who had sex with a 20-year-old woman at the age of 14 now owes thousands of dollars in back child support for a child he never knew existed.

Nick Olivas became a father in 2006 — a fact he didn’t learn until two years ago when the state served him with papers demanding child support.

“It was a shock,” he told The Arizona Republic. “I was living my life and enjoying being young. To find out you have a 6-year-old? It’s unexplainable. It freaked me out.”

Mr. Olivas said he panicked and never responded to the papers demanding he take a paternity test. The state eventually tracked him down and seized money from his bank account and is now garnisheeing his wages, The Republic reported.

She shouldn't get 1 penny until after she does the time for molesting a minor..

She should be charged!

I agree with Jake. charge her. that boy was too young to make that kind of decision and should not be held responsible.

Even with some recent cases involving teacher/student relationships the laws are not even close to being equal...when the woman is the older person involved... the punishment is much lighter than the other way around...

Considering that this individual was 14 at the time should present enough for a challenge....Don't know Az laws but in most states a 14 YOA is not recognized to be able to give consent or make that type of decision....Now the guy's parents may be able to press charges because he was a juvenile at the time...maybe she would have to register as an offender now after her admission....One thing the lawyers will profit off this...
