| Islamist militias in Libya took control of nearly a dozen commercial jetliners last month, and western intelligence agencies recently issued a warning that the jets could be used in terrorist attacks across North Africa. | I doubt about them striking the mainland of the USA, but they could do some damage flying under the radar in the Middle East. That is dangerous for a jet airliner to maintain altitude below radar.
If the fly above radar without using an identifying beacon, I would assume it would be considered hostile and dealt with accordingly. | |
