http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/limemouse/lifx-the-light-bulb-reinvented I like it, Z. I am an absolute electronics nut and, if it plugs into the wall or runs off batteries... I WANT IT! I mentioned this somewhere else (maybe here, I dunno), but I am scheduled to have Gulf Power come and install a control unit on my wifi router. They're going to install a wifi-enabled HVAC thermostat and a wifi switch on my hot water heater... all for free. If I had a pool, they have a wifi control for it too. When I am driving down to P'cola, I can hit the internet, access my thermostat and make the house more comfortable, and make it so I have hot water when we get there. I was already looking into buying a wifi thermostat and trying to figure out how to control my hot water heater by wifi and Gulf Power sent me a card in the mail offering to do it for free.

| Eric, I have heard of that program elsewhere and will be interested to find out whether or not it reduces your average monthly bill. I have not investigated...but does this work like price averaging or are your bills based on actual usage? I can't imagine Gulf Power installing this program free simply out of the kindness of their hearts.
Z, I think the concept is brilliant and hope they can execute it well. My beef with LED lighting is that it is not as warm as incandescent. I hope the range of hues give us the more traditional lighting option.
Great thread.

| I think the Public Service Committee requires that Gulf Power have programs that push energy efficiency. There were provisos to be eligible for the program, and I am going to go by memory here:
Own your own home, (or have permission of the owner) Have a WiFi router, Have an electric heating/AC system, and You must be on a regular billing cycle (no averaging).
