In some ways I wish they had not strayed from the original format of the book which was an excellent story in itself. I realize that Hollywood thinks that action adventures are the way to go. Unfortunately now if someone reads the book belatedly it won't be the same to them.
I noticed that they were making references to The Silmarillion throughout the movie. Wonder if that means they have plans on producing more movies based on passages in The Silmarillion. Would be hard to do considering the book reads like the Bible and covers a vast period of time. I suppose we shall see.
