Nice move by Gov Scott

Signed legislation for a Florida GI Bill modeled after the WWII version to benefit veterans and make Florida a veteran friendly state. Just nice to see something positive pertaining to veterans.

About time a state recognizes the benefits of supporting veterans.

     LONG overdue and not just this state.  Every state and the federal government should be red faced and ashamed over the treatment (or lack thereof) of veterans.  Scott also ordered federal facilities in Florida that serve veterans to be investigated after there were some deaths and injuries that occurred during treatments.  Florida was one state mentioned and it was reported that Sen Nelson also is demanding answers to be given to Congress.  Maybe instead of Congress worrying and meeting with Northwestern university  unionizing college football players... focus should be on matters that are important.

Yes, treatment should be first rate, but there are probably more effective ways to get it done than embarrassing the Feds in the press. Grandstanding like Obama constantly does is ineffective. Many effective politicians get things done without alienating people.

    Well this will be a bipartisan effort as Gov Scott is a republican and Sen Nelson a democrat.  The article didn't go into detail about the severity of the injuries that occurred but did mention that there were deaths that may have been linked to diagnosis and/or delays in getting cancer treatment.  Did end up having a positive outcome when the conditions at Walter Reed were exposed and those responsible should be embarrassed at the least and or charged with negligence if appropriate.  This certainly wouldn't be the first time the federal government has been embarrassed over a variety of issues.

The premise still holds. You make too much of a stink and the Feds don't have to give Florida any priority. It doesn't matter if it is Florida Dems or Florida Republicans.

I am not disagreeing that health care should be anything less than top notch... just saying that you get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

The Feds can straighten up their act for a while, then close Florida Facilities... just like they did with Walter Reed after their problems surfaced widely in the press.
