Neko

One of our members, Neko, is in the hospital with ARDS secondary to H1N1 influenza. She is on a ventilator at this time. Please pray in your own way for Neko, her husband and her children.

No updates on Neko's condition yet. I just got home....I've been offline for most of this weekend.

Eric, Neko is still on a ventilator. There has been no change in her condition, which may be a good sign. She will be having a tracheotomy done on Tuesday, most likely.

I'm more than happy to go to the NW Fla blood center to donate for her if she needs platelets, plasma, or whole blood.. I'm a universal doner.. AB Pos.. They prefer plasma and platelets when I go to donate..

That is kind of you, Jake. However, Neko lives way over on the other side of Florida. :-(

They will make sure it's given to her free..  It might not be mine, but from another blood center  ie  Red Cross.. All they need is the name of the patient and the hospital.. It's great if they have a dr request for it too.. Mine has been used in MS, AL, FL, TX, and GA after it was requested, mostly for severe burn patients or babies..

I was wondering the same thing earlier today.

New Update from her Daughter today,

"Much more alert now. Nurses are trying to do breathing trials where she can start breathing on her own. Will be several days until she can move to Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville. She mouths words to us and I'm the one who can understand her best. Must be a mommy daughter thing. Thank you for the prayers."

This is great news, Joani... thank you so much for sharing. I will continue prayers until she is HOME with her family where she belongs! I'll have to tell Az right away... she will be very relieved to hear this news.

Hot off the update line::

My mom is at Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville, FL now. Their goal for her is to wean her off the trache in 2-3 weeks along with physical and occupational therapy each day to help her become stronger. She is alert but sad she has to spent the next few weeks there but she is stronger everyday. Keep the prayers up- my mommy is so loved.

She's still fighting, that's good news!
