Syria rebels reject opposition coalition, call for Islamic leadership Empty
PostSubject: Syria rebels reject opposition coalition, call for Islamic leadership   Syria rebels reject opposition coalition, call for Islamic leadership EmptyWed Sep 25, 2013 8:49 am

Just another foreign policy failure for the Oblamer Administration. Oblamer missed his opportunity to influence events in Syria long ago when the conflict started. Now with the Syrian opposition infiltrated by Islamists it appears keeping Assad may be the best option. Better the devil you know which is why I was disappointed Bush went after Hussein. He was a monster but did manage to keep the Islamists under control and kept Iran somewhat in check. Yep, the Mideast is failing fast under the lack of influence by Oblamer. So lets continue handing weapons over to the "rebels" - BHO assures us they can keep track of the weapons. LOL! Another Fast and Furious solution..... Mission accomplished - right BHO?

"(Reuters) - Thousands of Syrian rebels have broken with the Western-backed coalition to form a new Islamist force that may pressure President Bashar al-Assad but also undermine the West's hopes of putting its friends in his place.

Ever more divided on a battlefield where Assad's better armed troops have been gaining ground, allies of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) were among 13 disparate rebel factions to disown the exile leadership and support an Islamic alliance that includes the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, commanders said on Tuesday."

Thankfully.....right now/this time....Americans seem to have learned something and the public support for the cowh...kerry...mccain...graham and others was not there...but don't get comfortable because this will come up again...You are correct...when the time was right the cowh decided to lead from behind and now the radicals have seized upon an opportunity because of the lack of leadership of the cowh...Now it's to the point that Asaad being overthrown would be less beneficial to the US...

Whoever ends up as Pres the next time around is going to have a nightmare to deal with in the Mideast, the EU, Asia, and Russia thanks to BHO. With our ground and air military forces still bogged down in Afghanistan (and elsewhere in smaller numbers) and the Navy being ground down by knee jerk reaction policies of the administration, and budget disasters looming our status as a world power is in serious jeopardy. Some folks might think -so what? - but the fact remains we have an international economy and require secure lines of communication to obtain minerals and resources not available here in addition to normal commerce (trade) considerations.

When we were a true Superpower... say, when Eisenhower was president, we could have gotten away with one or two "bully" actions. Not today, though.

Please correct me for illogical reasoning, but where do we come off thinking we can tell Iran and North Korea that they cannot have nuclear weapons? We built them... and in vast numbers... and we USED one on a city, for God sakes.

Yeah, it would be nice if Iran didn't have a nuke, especially since they hate Israel, one of our supposed allies. But, do we really have the RIGHT to tell Iran, a sovereign nation, what they can and cannot do?

I prefer more isolationist diplomacy. I just wished our country kept it's nose out of other countries' affairs. Carry "a big stick" and all that stuff, but we don't have to beat the ground with that stick on every ant that comes out of the ant pile.

Often wondered about the logic myself - one reason Saddam Insane was a useful idiot over there was his big dog in the park attitude. I have been advocating leaving the Mideast entirely to the misguided people that live there. They will still sell us oil if/when we need it and they will want to trade too. On the other side of the coin are various treaties we have with supposed allies. I don't think anything we are currently doing has much to do with those treaties - so lets pack up the troops and bring em home and let the cretins over there sort themselves out. They have been fighting each for thousands of years - I don't think a few more will make much of a difference.

sadaam did keep iran in check because they hated each other and both wanted to be the big dogs on the block...would bet that if iran were running their mouth about being close to a nuke sadaam would have attacked them already..not that his continued existence would be a good thing....With this recent case in Syria there were harsh comments and statements about punishing Syria and when it got close...France and England suddenly retreated from their bold talk...sadly much like the US...sadly our 'allies' are more than willing to see the US do the heavy lifting as they cheer from the sidelines...in many areas bringing the troops home and closing bases is long overdue...The middle east will still be in turmoil long after we leave so may as well allow them to settle their own issues...

More bad news from Libya - and this is a direct threat to our troops overseas, didn't Oblamers administration say they could track weapons they are giving to Syrian "rebels"??? Well if this incident is any indication I would have to say Oblamer is lying AGAIN.

"Theft of US weapons in Libya involved hundreds of guns, sources say"

"The recent theft of massive amounts of highly sensitive U.S. military equipment from Libya is far worse than previously thought, Fox News has learned, with raiders swiping hundreds of weapons that are now in the hands of militia groups aligned with terror organizations and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The equipment, as Fox News previously reported, was used for training in Libya by U.S. Special Forces. The training team, which was funded by the Pentagon, has since been pulled, partly in response to the overnight raids last August.

According to State Department and military sources, dozens of highly armored vehicles called GMV's, provided by the United States, are now missing. The vehicles feature GPS navigation as well as various sets of weapon mounts and can be outfitted with smoke-grenade launchers. U.S. Special Forces undergo significant training to operate these vehicles. Fox News is told the vehicles provided to the Libyans are now gone.

Along with the GMV's, hundreds of weapons are now missing, including roughly 100 Glock pistols and more than 100 M4 rifles. More disturbing, according to the sources, is that it seems almost every set of night-vision goggles has also been taken. This is advanced technology that gives very few war fighters an advantage on the battlefield."

As the story goes on....that was supposed to be the reason that the administration halted any efforts of going in and attempt to rescue/assist those at Benghazi...worried that it would have uncovered the guns being moved...Geez Fast and Furious II?...Watching the testimony and pleas from the survivors families wanting to know---what happened over a year ago was difficult to watch...Their answers are there but are being silenced...Add to the mix that the gutless democrats on the committee REFUSED to return and listen/participate in the hearings involving the surviving family members...guess it must be a little difficult looking at them and telling the administration lies and cover-ups...

Since USAID can't account for much of the taxpayer money it hands out it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't give him the tent - in the name of humanitarian aid of course....

"The US Agency for International Development (USAID), the State Department entity that administers foreign aid, has admitted that it really has no idea how much US taxpayers’ money is used for its intended purpose and how much lines the pockets of corrupt politicians or winds up in Swiss banks. According to USAID’s Inspector General, the agency failed, in 2009, to conduct mandatory annual audits of about $500 million in funds transferred to 52 foreign countries because “it was unable to produce an inventory of all organizations it gives money to.” People familiar with the way USAID works believe the Inspector General’s comment is vastly understated."

But WE are in sequestration facing our annual government shut-down threats....maybe shutting down should first include the wasteful and braindead spending!...But as Harry Reid said....No negotiation for any legislation including spending cuts...
