| Full article at NorthEscambia.com | Jeffrey Antwan Simmons, 30, was arrested in February, charged with second degree murder and aggravated child abuse for allegedly causing the death of a 22-month old. The child was in Simmons’ care at the time of the incident. The child was discovered suffering seizures and was unresponsive; the mother attempted to perform CPR prior to the arrival of EMS.
When the victim arrived at the hospital, her symptoms were consistent with non-accidental traumatic brain injury. It was believed at the time that Simmons caused the injuries. The child was hospitalized for 10 days before being declared dead. Throughout this time, it was believed that the child died as the result of a traumatic brain injury. |
Following the child’s death, an autopsy determined that the child was suffering from meningitis and that the cause of death was an infection of the central nervous system. The autopsy confirmed the child died of natural causes, the State Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday. This man will ALWAYS be viewed as a criminal... because the LEO community jumped to a conclusion without any speck of proof that a crime occurred. I can see the LEO/SA community saying, "Oops, my bad. Let's go on to the next dirtbag." What a shame.

| They need to make a public statement on TV and in the papers. | |

| How much expense has this man incurred because of Morgan's Cowboys? Did he lose his job, lose income during his incarceration?
You know he'll never get any of this back. And, of course, his reputation in the community is now ruined.

I imagine there won't be any media support in correcting this wrong. You are right... this is not breaking news that can be sensationalized. They might pay lip service to it in passing, but you can be rest-assured that it will not get as much attention as the original (sensationalized) front-page story. The only guy who will probably make out on this is the bail bondsman. The accused, more than likely, could only manage to scrape 10% of the bail and had to give it to the bail bondsman... which the bail bondsman will keep as his profit, for putting up the rest of his bail money.

| Lets not forget to throw CPS(or whatever it is called in Florida) under the bus also. You can bet your bottom dollar they were somehow involved in this fiasco. Condemn the man even before a COD is pronounced by the ME. Talk about jumping to conclusions. | |
