| Hi Eric, I wrote a note in the gardening section yesterday, but it's so far down on the page that you may have missed it. Hubby and I are planning to build a waterfall and stream similar to the pictures you had posted in the gardening section. I came on the forum to show him the work you had done, but those pictures are gone (at least for me), so I was hoping you would re-post the pictures when you have a chance (and if you can locate the pictures!) Hubby wants to know what you used for the stream. It sounds like you used plastic, but how did you get a piece of plastic that was so long it would cover the entire stream bed? | |

| I'll be happy to repost them. Let me see what I can do about finding them.
I used pond lining material that I got from Home Depot or Lowe's. I guess it was 30 mills or so... maybe thicker. If I had to splice it, I would overlap it like a shingle on a roof and seal it with roofing bull... a sealer.
After prepping (digging) the stream "ditch" and setting two ponds in the ground... one at the top and one at the bottom, I then worked on the "stream". The liner went down first. Then I put a layer (@ 2-3" thick) of concrete and embedded Tennessee flagstone in the concrete while it was still wet. I used two pallets of flagstone, a 300-gallon plastic "pond" at top, a 150-gallon plastic "pond" at the bottom of the stream which held the pump. At the top pond, I built a waterfall at the high end of it and pumped up to the waterfall. The top pond spilled onto the artificial stream bed with a small waterfall as well. | |

| The upper pond is between the waterfall at the top and the one more in the foreground. | |

| Some of the liner material is visible on the photo in the previous post. The photo below shows the stream, with the upper pond area at the top. | |

| This photo was obviously focused on the flowers, but in the background, the bottom of the stream flows into the bottom pond. The green boxes were for lights and electrical connections to switch the pump. | |

| Oh thank you so much, Eric! My husband will appreciate this!! I'm going to go show him right now. EDIT: Just showed him the pictures. Thanks for the info about building the stream. He was a bit stumped on that one. | |

| I had about 4' of elevation difference overall. The water really hauled ass down that stream. It was right outside our bedroom window and the sound of that rushing water was heavenly.
If your property is fairly level, maybe a waterfall into a pond would work better. It wouldn't be nearly as complicated either.
Here in P'cola, we're using one of those multi-level thingies with lights and a pump in the bottom, LOL.
It's box was severely weathered (the paint was flaking off funky cardboard), but it was inside another box and wrapped in plastic... no worse for wear... but I got a huge discount off it at Home Depot. It makes good noise and the lights dance off the house when it gets real dark. It's right up under the eave by the back door patio where the outside plugs are conveniently located... and has bonus points with a water spigot within 5 feet!
