A Navarre man seeking a position as a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputy instead found himself behind bars, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
James Rudd Moore, 20, of the 2100 block of Castle Grove Drive, was arrested after a pre-employment background check revealed that he may have had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor, the release said.
Authorities began investigating Moore after a juvenile sex offense was connected to a self-disclosed statute violation on Moore’s employment application, his arrest report says.
On July 11, Moore was arrested and charged with a lewd and lascivious offense against a victim aged 12-16.
He was held on $30,000 bond before being released.
