That isn't that hard to do. Hovering a helicopter is like riding a bicycle. It is kinda hard to learn, but once you learn it, you never forget how to do it. I taught dozens and dozens of student aviators how to hover out at Spencer Field in Pace when I was with HT-8 from 1981-1984.
Now, what is difficult is that backward climbing maneuver. I have seen the EMS helo at Sacred Heart do that off the roof of the hospital. You are right inside "Deadman's Curve" when you do that, and any loss of engine power is going to put you on the ground in a pile of junk.
