(Jack Benny & his wife, Mary Livingstone)
Every year, presumably at her birthday, Benny would send his wife a dozen roses... and every year it would include a note with these words.
- Quote :
- I love you even more this year than last year on this day. My love for you will always grow, with every passing year.
Mary figured her roses would stop when Jack died in 1974. But Jack had a prior arrangement.
Mary received one long-stemmed rose every day until she passed away in 1983.
Their marriage wasn't perfect, but it lasted 48 years. He had a provision in his will to have the flowers delivered.
That brings tears to my eyes. Call me a romantic, I don't care. That hit me right in the "feels".
