LOL.
I do like that brand of Yakisoba shown in the second video picture. Makes a pretty good snack or lunch for only $1.00.

I saw this pic the other day at a Toyoko website.. . A Ramen Machine... Damn!! 630 yen? That is almost 6 dollars? back in the day in Chitose it was 150 yen at 360 to a dollar. Less than 50 cents. But then I thought Yea and cigs were 10 cents a pack LOL http://www.eatingoutintokyo.com/Lunch/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Japanese-Restaurants-in-Tokyo-Menmen-Kamezo-how-to-order-and-pay-ticket-vending-machine-menus-with-prices-stick-to-machine-detail.jpg

You can buy just about anything from a vending machine today in Japan. Food in Japan is not so cheap today. But actually 600 yen is a pretty cheap lunch! It's a little over $6.00 US. Can you believe that 100 yen today is worth MORE than $1.00?
The extra locality/cost of living pay in Japan today for US troops--is hundreds of dollars a month, even for an E-2 or so.

The cost of living pay allowance in Japan is more than that for an E 5 today!

What the military has really improved on, I think, is allowances for family. If you are married with kids, the allowances can really add up. NOT a good reason, alone, for a guy/gal to get married though!
