| Subject: VGrabber- How do I get rid of it? Wed Aug 01, 2012 6:15 pm | |
| When I logged in here a day or two ago, a box appeared that said I should upload. So very naively I did it. Then all things changed. I found my computer was now on a nasty program, called VGrabber. Something made by Bing. This was how ignorant of computer tactics. I immediately lost Google Chrome and the whole face of my PC was different. I tried to uninstall it but no luck, it won't go away.I hope cursing Bing and VGrabber to hell and gone works, nothing else does.
I finally got Google Chrome back but the VGrabber and all its baggage still grins at me from my Toolbar when I turn on the PC.
Anybody here familiar with this bunch of scum?

Anybody here familiar with this bunch of scum? In your Control Panel "Add/Delete Programs" Do you see anything that refers to Zugo? I have the instructions for removing it manually, but it involves deleting some Registry entries and unless you are comfortable with the Registry it might not be a good idea. You can also do a Google Search by typing in Removal of VGrabber and it will direct you to several solutions.

| Yella, if you don't mind, go to this wesite and download the latest version of HiJack This. On the right side of the page you will see "Download Latest Version", Click that link to download.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Once downloaded and installed, run it on your computer then save a copy to your Notepad and copy it then send me the copy to my email address, I will go oveer it and see what I can find.

| Yella, you might see if you can revert to an earlier "good" setup by using System Restore. It is kinda drastic, but I have had success by picking a recent restore point. My computer creates a restore point every time it installs new software. It allows you to undo every software installation and setting that was done after that restore date. You DON'T want to pick an old restore date (like months ago) as it undoes too much stuff for the computer to undo safely.
Here's a Microsoft link on Restore Points http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/system-restore-frequently-asked-questions
That's a link for restore points on Vista. If you don't have Vista, try Googling with the name of your operating system and "restore point".
