| Subject: What was Mayor Hayward doing during negotiations? Sun Jul 26, 2015 3:21 pm | |
| If you believe Rick Outzen, you would believe that Mayor Hayward is a klutz when it comes to PR and communication. While the Mayor and his minions stalled the review of the Studer's CMP proposals, the CMPA approved the Studer leases and sent it to the City. Everybody seemed to be riding a "high". Things were rolling. Then the other shoe dropped. Now Hayward wants another 60-day delay... infuriating Studer.ARTICLE - Quote :
- In the “Alice and Wonderland” world of Pensacola city government, the Studers got what they didn’t want and walked away with a vague deadline that the leases will be brought back sometime in the next 60 days.
Mayor Hayward, COO Fountain and Council President Terhaar may have felt they accomplished something. However, the “conceptual approval” and instruction to the city’s attorneys to come back to the council in 60 days with leases were completely unnecessary.
Instead, the mayor could have passed out the leases approved by the CMPA to the council members and told them he was calling a special meeting for Thursday, July 23 to approve them. Meanwhile, he would have Beggs & Lane attorneys meet with the Studers’ attorney to “tweak” the wording. Now, I wasn't in favor of developing the CMPA property, but now that the ball park is there and other buildings are under construction or completed, they might was well go ahead and develop the remaining developable parcels. I read somewhere that the Mayor doesn't like Studer's attorney. Is this delay related to petty B.S. and the cause of Studer's withdrawal of his proposals?

The mayor is rumored to be eyeing loftier political goals....like the House seat that will be vacated by Rep Miller as he runs for the Senate seat vacated by Sen Rubio....Politics----"petty BS"!?...Who'd of thunk that?.....
