Getting ready to make the change to Linux Empty
PostSubject: Getting ready to make the change to Linux   Getting ready to make the change to Linux EmptyMon Nov 19, 2012 9:26 am

Well, guys, if you never hear from me after this week you'll know my computer blew up. After hearing form Alecto and talking in depth with my hacker buddy face-to-face this past weekend, I'm ready to make the change to Linux one day this week.

I have a lot of work to do first, according to my friend. Need to clean up windows, defrag, delete unused programs, all of that before I install Ubuntu.

I'm going to make it a dual boot to either Windows or Linux. I learned how to do it this weekend, so I'm hoping for the best. I learned about disk space and partitioning, so I may not need to bug Alecto (too much!)

Both my friend and Alecto say Linux is much, much more secure than Windows.

This will be work, but I think it will be worth it in terms of not having to worry about viruses and so on. Also, Ubuntu is user-friendly and just plain fun in comparison to Windows.

We'll see! affraid

Cool, PB! Computers are fun to mess with. I cannot tell you how many times I screwed up my own machine by messing with it too much. But each time, I got it unstuck, and learned something in the process. Good luck with your transition.
