Sounds like sex with a high school student and paying off blackmail for years and years.
What a nice guy.
Oh yeah, and he played a leading role in the impeachment of Bill Clinton who had sex with a consenting adult. All the while he was allegedly paying blackmail to cover up his own legally nonconsentual sex with a teenaged boy. He kept it a secret. He lied about it and the blackmail. He claimed the money he was withdrawing was for himself. Lied to the IRS, a government agency.

You are right about it being a slimeball thing, but Hastert was not an independent politician and he spoke out loudly about Bill Clinton's indiscretions.

All the while he knew he had done something even more slimey himself.

If it isn't a party issue it definitely is an issue of the guy being a raging hypocrite.
