Good for you... I think, HG.  I won't say which name is yours. (Karen Sindel?)

Well, Karen, I am THRILLED you are doing this and know you are the man…ahem…woman for the job. The community will be all the better for it. I was on a planning commission pro tempore a long time ago and really enjoyed it. The best way to learn be informed is to be part of it. I think you'll like it!

I have a question for you ??Karen?? WHY do full size buses go all the way from Perdido to P'Cola Beach with 0-3 riders?? Why not use a car or small van?? I understand that something has to go on the scheduled routes at scheduled times. It would save a fortune in fuel costs.. I know my motor home gets about 8 MPG.. Who knows what kind of mileage the buses get and I bet they are diesel which costs a lot more than regular fuel.

Good question. I have no idea why. I suspect it will take time to change from the Status quo to a different or more efficient type of system. Mass transit works well in many cities. Maybe one day we will join them. I will be sure to keep everyone posted as I learn more.

Rest well knowing that your motor home is getting the same mileage as my 08 Silverado, which I call "The Hungry, Hungry Hippo" for reasons which should be abundantly clear.

I love it, Eric. The bad fuel economy mostly because of the conditions I drive it in and because it's always in 4WD. It does not help matters that it has a 6L v8, but it does have a 6-speed and variable valve timing... not that the latter ever gets used.

The access road to the mine is really dangerous for a lot of reasons, the law of superior tonnage being one of them. Hippo puts me in a better situation coming up against what I do on the access road.

Really, there are lots of reasons, but I love my new truck. Even with the crappy fuel mileage.
