| Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, is currently under fire for the NFL's handling of discipline of Ray Rice's knocking out his girlfriend in an elevator. Rice was given a two-game suspension until the video of the hit became viral. The NFL is accused of covering up knowledge of seeing that video. They put him on indefinite suspension after that video became public... probably ending Rice's career. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

NJ [Atlantic City] has similar statutes to Florida... The victim does not need to cooperate or press charges...if there is evidence of domestic violence the state press charges...Law enforcement is exempt from charges of false arrest/or civil litigation simply because the victim [usually the female] refuses after the fact... What happened is that Rice entered a pre-trial diversion program [plea bargain] according to all reports he was/is in compliance with all the conditions set forth by the courts...never been specified as to whether he is on probation or how long that probation period is set... The NFL suspended him for two games and this is where it gets interesting...According to Rice and his attorney they claim in a meeting that Rice was forthcoming with the commissioner and admitted to striking his fiance' in the elevator but the indefinite suspension came after the video in the elevator was released which Goodell claims he or anyone from the NFL has never seen... There were reports that a copy of the video was sent to league offices and that Goodell and others made the decision that they didn't want to see it... It's a mess and appears to be of the making of the commissioner...believe he should get praise of his taking responsibility for the error of the two game suspension...but very low marks for his handling of everything else...enough to be fired?....Good question but the owners are supporting him...for now....If sponsors would start to drop...then he'd be gone quick... Rice was supposed to have appealed the indefinite suspension yesterday...

| Just another case of jumping to conclusions before ALL of the FACTS are known.. WHO is the ONE person that publicized the video on TV and computers?? THAT is the ONE person that should face charges of invading their privacy and using them to make money or get famous.. He's just a dirt bag and deserves to pay for any court costs and lost wages of Rice and his family including future wages.. | |

It is a little suspicious of how TMZ obtained the videos of an on-going investigation...

| I asked 3 high school kids about the Rice story today.. They all said they never heard anything about it and after giving them the basic story, they all said the media and police should let them settle it themselves.. They agreed the team and NFL should stay out of it.. | |

The prosecutors declined... and entered into a diversion program rather than going to trial...Some that are so outraged may feel different if all occupations had the authority to fire [suspend] them from incidents that happen outside of their employment in addition to punitive actions from the legal system...

| I'd vote no. The NFL needs to change its attitude towards criminal actions of players but the word is criminal. We still have the "innocent until proven guilty" rule in America. Goodell should wait until the courts decide and let it be until then. No way should Goodell be fired. Rice losing his job hurts his wife as much as it does him. What I saw on the video was a drunk woman slapping at her boyfriend and him hitting her back. She wouldn't have been unconscious if it weren't for the railing in the elevator. Both of them being so incredibly drunk was the cause of the whole thing. I have a feeling a jury won't convict, and then what happens to Rice's career? | |

| Now he's suspending Peterson for using a switch to discipline his child. A lot of us had to go out in the yard and cut our own switches. Now that was cruel and unusual punishment.
It's an outrage to take away a man's livelihood because of switching a misbehaving child.

It's an outrage to take away a man's livelihood because of switching a misbehaving child. Well thank you for calling it a switch. I am so tired of hearing the media refer to it as a trre branch or tree limb. We got switched and like you said....the worst part was having to pick our own switch.
