Food Stamp Enrollments Top 45 Million 3 Years In a Row

President Barack Obama and vulnerable Democrats facing tough midterm elections in 71 days are scrambling to prop up the moribund U.S. economy in the minds of disgruntled voters. However, one of the quickest shorthand economic measurements--food stamp enrollments--paints a startling portrait of the "new normal" in the Obama economy.

Still, despite historic levels of Americans now dependent on welfare, and with the middle class poorer now than it was in 1984, Obama continues to claim that his economic policies have made things better.

Do they still hand out commodities like Bread, Milk, Cheese, Eggs and Flour anymore?  

I would prefer to see tax monies go toward commodities and make folks come and get them, instead of sitting on their asses and getting a check in the mail; then going out and trading stamps for cigarettes and beer.

If people are hungry due to poverty, commodities should fill that void.  I hate to see food stamps used at grocery stores for soft drinks, candy, cookies, snack crackers, ice cream, steak, and bakery cakes... all classified as eligible food items according to the USDA.

I've seen drug users/dealers with thousands of $ worth of them traded for drugs..

proof of ho great all those gov employees do their jobs.

That's why we should trust them with our very lives

They are paid to give the stamps and other things out to people that need them, NOT take them away from the ones that abuse them or don't need them...

Typical, nuc exchanges have NOTHING to do with food stamps.....

Bullsh-t if people are on food stamps that means they obviously can't feed themselves...a few nukes ..the trucks stop running and millions starve within weeks......we lose....disease...rioting and death...

We used to have public fallout shelters stocked with food and all needed supplies...Russia still does ...5000 just in Moscow..Of course our leaders have deep shelters fully stocked and ready to live for years....while we rot....
