I have followed Hoover football since my son Nick went there. He was in the band and we attended the games and got to like the school.
The Hoover/Miami Central matchup is going to be on ESPN and ESPNHD at 11 a.m.
Hoover isn't afraid of scheduling tough teams. I remember when they played Tim Tebow's team out of the space coast of Florida... and beat them.
Hoover is big time football. When we traveled with them, they had 7 busses for the team and 7 busses for the band, and that's not counting the trucks that followed with their equipment. I have seen when Hoover had so many players on the field that they had duplicate numbers... yes, more than 99 players suited up. Hoover enters the game on a 30-game winning streak and has won eight state titles since 2000.
The team was featured on an MTV reality series Two-a-Days during its 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Anyway, Miami Central is no slouch and it will be a good game. It can certainly go either way. I sympathize for the players for both sides, as it is in the middle of a heat wave here. It is supposed to get up to 98 degrees tomorrow.
