Eric, you hit on one of my lifetime nightmares with the lava pics.

When I was in grade school, I found an article about Pompeii in one of our books at home. I was terrified yet fascinated. That article included a artist's rendering of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, complete with horrified expressions on the faces of Pompeii's citizens as they ran from the flowing lava. I must have read that article and looked at that picture 60,000 times. I can still see that picture in my mind's eye. And now I'm treated to the real thing....arghhhh!

Yup....Pompeii and the lost island of Atlantis. My two childhood fascinations.

At our twenty fifth anniversary, we flew to Hawaii, then out to Kawaii (the garden island). I like volcanoes and saw old ones but we didn't see any lava flows... Dammit., we're gonna have to go back and visit active volcanoes. Kawaii was very nice. No buildings can be higher than a palm tree. We did some four wheeling up a dormant volcano, swam with sea turtles, kayaked up to a waterfall, had a luau, rented surfboards... But didn't see lava flows. We're just gonna have to go back.

They SAY this is a bottle rocket. I think it has to be something a little larger.

Eric on your next visit to Hawaii, you should visit the island of Maui. They have some beautiful black sandy beaches.

Drank Margarita to fast. Gots a bad brain freeze!!!

Speaking of defense, my wife and I week on vacation to Europe a few years ago. During this vacation, we had the opportunity to tour some of the castle ruins along the Mosel and Rhine Rivers. At one of the tour was guided and the guide ask if anyone knew why to hallways leading up the stairs were so narrow. No one knew the answer, but she said the design was intentional so that one archer at the top of the stairs could hold off a whole army of invaders. Seems the invaders had to lower their shields to go up the stairs and as they lowered them they were sitting ducks.

After the debate, I found out that there is a better way to find women...
