As much terraforming (levees, rerouting rivers), drilling, pumping and crap we have done over there, it's a wonder that Louisianna isn't screwed up worse.

I have ot say, I feel bad for the people there. I mean seriously, if I had a bubbling lake near me, some body is going to be hearing from me A LOT about some answers.

Thats funny.
You know when I first moved to pcola I met some peeps that had a strong accent and I was like, wth are they saying. Now I have a strong southern accent, but nothing like that.
I have acctually had people down here make fun of my accent and I tell em, look I 'm a real southerner, this is a southerner accent you yanky.
But I am grateful I dont have that accent. I'm sure it would hinder me professionally.

I watch that cultural gold mine... Swamp People.
They put subtitles on the screen to let people say what those coon-asses are sayin'!
And calling them a coon-ass is not derogatory to them
These two goobers have -1 for an IQ... combined. (And about that many teeth.)

I love that show! My husband is from New Orleans and when we visit, he knows all the best places to eat. Seems like Swamp has spun off a whole bunch of Cajun TV shows.

I have met quite a few Cajuns and they are good folks. I love the way they talk. Partying with a bunch of Cajuns is a trip.

I know what you mean, Yellerfeller. I have a friend that I used to run around with in my Junior College days and he was from New Orleans. He had a strong accent.
Fast forward to a couple of months ago, when I invited him over for dinner. He didn't have the accent anymore. He said it was living in Houston that killed it.
Damn!

I sometimes say I'm from New Orleans because that's where the bun (me) got put in the oven.
I do have a strange affinity with New Orleans. Every time I visit, I feel like I'm familiar with it - likes its soul is pulling at mine.
Weird, eh?

I haven't been there in a long time. We used to go to Mardi Gras regularly... even the one where the parades were cancelled due to a police strike (had National Guard troops everywhere).
I liked the early Jazz & Heritage Festivals too. You could bring a little red wagon with an ice chest full of beer. Hell, now the Fest is insanely crowded and they search purses for a can of beer

My daughter worked in Nauvoo, Il one summer. When I went to visit her it seemed like I had already been there. It was very eerie. I have had the feeling before but never that strong. It is Interesting that I also think about the place a lot and there is absolutely no reason to.

You know what sits at the base of my mind, nagging me since I first discovered this bothersome fact?
My maiden name, when translated, means, "Lives in or by a swamp".
Lives IN a swamp? WTH?
I didn't even realize they have swamps in central Europe.
Thank goodness someone in my wayback decided to wade out and head for drier ground.

Mitchell Guist (on the right) died recently - slipped and fell while loading his boat. They don't know if the seizure was before or after the fall...

That's a shame. Those brothers were really close. At least the surviving brother has a sister he can share his sorrow with.
The antics those brothers would get into provided me with a few laughs.

Those Mardi Gras "bilge parades" in the canals of East New Orleans (near Slidell) were fun. Parade floats were pleasure crafts and paddle wheelers. The boats had huge rubber band slingshots and would sling trinkets and cups onto shore. People would stand near the shore with crab nets and catch things in the air and "catch" booty that didn't make it to the shore.
Aaaaargh!

now they are concerned about radiation there. The sink hole grew and apparently there is a some area that has radiation close by.
I think they cracked into something there, maybe fraking near it as eric sugested it natural gas coming up which you cant smell but is poison.
they must know what it is by now .im not buying that they dont.
heres a good commentary. this guy is an amazing thinker.
