| I don't think Danica will do it, even from the Pole. | |

| I don't think she will either. She is a decent driver, but it takes a lot more than just the driver.. | |

She can't seem to stay out of trouble with wrecks. I will go with Kevin Harvick, though I would like to see Tony Stewart win it. All of the Stewart-Haas cars seem to be performing exceptionally well right now.

| A big part of staying out of the wrecks is the spotter seeing them before they happen and getting the warning to the driver immediately when it happens. I think Johanna Long is a better driver than Danika but just doesn't have the big money and publicity backing that Danika does. | |

| Johanna was doing great in the Nationwide race when she was involved in a wreck right in front of her. There was nothing anybody could do to avoid it. :-(
It looks like 4-5 fans were hurt when a tire, wheel, and front suspension pieces went into the stands along with an engine thru the fence. I'm praying for everybody that was hurt.

| We made an error in judgement when we went to Talladega a few years ago. We had seats right on the Finish Line, but we were only about 3 rows up. Every time a car went by, we were showered with debris.
(A good view of the action though.)

| The higher up in the stands the better... I would rather go to 5 Flags than Daytona or Talledega.. I went to Daytona for the 500, 19 years in a row from 76-95 and only missed 5 races at 5 Flags since 91.. 2 for weddings, 2 for funerals, and 1 for an Englebert Humperdink show in Biloxi..LOL Latest news from Daytona is debris went into the 2nd level of the stands, a few stories up.. | |

| That's horrible. Race car debris can be deadly missiles. | |

| I was just reading on yahoo sports that the carbeirator and one of the front tires ended up in the 9th row seating.
My great nephew was there and was sitting just to the right(as you face the grandstand) from where the wreck happened. He caught the whole thing on his cell phone.

| HMMMM They are NOT using carborators. They have been using throttle body fuel injection since 2011. That shows you how accurate the media is.. I'm sure the general info is pretty close to correct though. It was the tire, wheel, and whole assembly including the hub and upper and lower control arms. | |

Again if we can believe the media, they are now reporting 28 people were injured with 14 taken to area hospitals 2 in critical condition. One with a life threatening head injury and the other a child(no age reported).

| I agree, but soon after it happened they said some were being treated at the track and others went to the hospital. The hospitals really can't say much because of the privacy act. I'm surprised they didn't have a delay when they interviewed the couple from NY who said a few first names.. Imagine if it was your family who's names and home town in NY were mentioned. I'll never forget years ago when they announced that Neil Bonnett was killed in a crash. His wife heard it on the radio on her way from Hueytown, AL to the track in Daytona. | |

| Danica Wins Daytona 500! Nope! Jimmie Johnson did. Here's some info - Quote :
- DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A big first for Danica Patrick, but an even bigger second for Jimmie Johnson.
Patrick made history up front at the Daytona 500 Sunday, only to see Johnson make a late push ahead of her and reclaim his spot at the top of his sport.
It was the second Daytona 500 victory for Johnson, a five-time NASCAR champion who first won ''The Great American Race'' in 2006.
''There is no other way to start the season than to win the Daytona 500. I'm a very lucky man to have won it twice,'' said Johnson, who won in his 400th career start. ''I'm very honored to be on that trophy with all the greats that have ever been in our sport.''
It comes a year after Johnson completed only one lap in the race because of a wreck that also collected Patrick, and just three months after Johnson lost his bid for a sixth Sprint Cup title to go two years without a championship after winning five straight.
Patrick, the first woman to win the pole, also became the first woman to lead the race. She was running third on the last lap, but faded to eighth at the finish and admitted she'll replay it over in her mind.
