Engrish.com says that it was a(nother) mistranslation, the movie title was MEANT to be "Love in the Buff," much, much different meaning! lol.
In my family, "parenthesis lines" are referred to as "smile lines" and are considered a badge of honor in aging gracefully. But as I understand it, even moreso than in our culture, a premium is placed upon youthfulness in women in the Japanese culture, much of which is pretty sickening to me. I mean, we all want to do our best to feel good about ourselves, but I've got enough self-esteem that my self-worth is not tied up in how young I look or in my physical appearance. But I have to admit that I was pretty flattered when had to produce my ID to two younger guys a couple weeks back because they flat refused to believe that I was 41. One was hitting on me and I'd told him, "Honey, I am old enough to be your mama. You're real sweet, but it's not happening."
Back to the weird product promotion, I have serious doubts as to the efficacy of this product!
Engrish.com is HILARIOUS and Neko, it would probably harken back some fun memories for you. I like to hit the "Favorites" section every now and then (as it's been updated with new Faves)... When I first started visiting that site I would often wind up laughing so hard I was crying and could not catch my breath.
Uh, it is not a PC site at all, so if you're easily offended I don't recommend visiting the site. You've been warned.
