| Goes to show you can't trust the media for shit, which will be news to precisely no one here. I looked this up because I was surprised when someone on another message board I read stated, "More white men commit suicide by gun than all the murders in America combined." Anyhow, the way the media spins it you would think that gun violence has spiked. It hasn't. It has declined, as have "nonfatal violent firearm crime victimizations." - Quote :
- Despite these trends, most U.S. adults think gun crimes have increased. In our 2013 survey, more than half (56%) of Americans said the number of gun crimes had gone up compared with 20 years ago. Another 26% said the number of gun crimes had remained the same, and just 12% said gun crimes had declined.

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/10/21/gun-homicides-steady-after-decline-in-90s-suicide-rate-edges-up/ Some never let the facts get in the way of their agenda.....That may be the reason the folks at fact checker were going crazy after the stats that the cowh gave at his town hall meeting....

He held a town hall meeting in NH that was hosted by cnn [Anderson cooper]....First question came from the widow of American Sniper K. Kyle....he never answered her questions/comments but did take time to thank her for husband's and her service....
He continued to make mention of his 'stats' that supported his agenda for more gun legislation even though he dodged questions about not supporting the laws that were already on the books....These questions were posed by law enforcement officers which one made mention of the sanctuary cities [illegal immigration] and drug cartels for contributing to the violence..both were deflected...
Really it was a campaign event for an individual not running....So what got people spun up?....The fact checkers immediately listed several 'untruths' in the stats that were presented as factual....
