Maybe the TPP folks can do SOMETHING without the hand-wringing, do-nothing Congress that is indebted to their lobbyists.

Our congress was designed to be contentious... what exactly do you want them to solve for you? Their powers have been farmed out for over a century since the advent of the progressive era. See the federal reserve or the wilson war powers. The idea was that majorities should be sought by compromise and sound thinking... not populist bs or special interest sabotage.

Is it too much to ask for some bipartisan cooperation for a change, instead of "That bill is Dead On Arrival", no matter the importance of the text of a bill.

I don't expect all bills to pass or anything... as most of them are shit to begin with... but it just seems like Congress is paralyzed with fear of alienating supporters... y'know, the lobbyists... and other party faithful, Tea Party, etc....

Congressional Bills should only deal with the matter at hand. The pork should be eliminated because as I see it all they're doing is buying votes for the Bill with the pork. If we have to buy votes then obviously the Bill can't stand on it's own and doesn't deserve to be a law.

I'd be perfectly content if Congress only passed every one out of a hundred, or even a thousand, bills into law so long as it was a good law when it was passed.

The U.S. public's confidence in its lawmakers in Washington, which has been on the decline for decades, is now at a historic low not just for Congress but compared to any major U.S. institution, according to a Gallup poll released on Thursday.

Just 7 percent of Americans surveyed said they have "a great deal" or "quite a lot" of confidence overall in Congress, down from 10 percent last year, the non-partisan polling firm said.

"This is the lowest confidence score Gallup has recorded for any institution - ever," Gallup said in a statement. "This is also the first time Gallup has ever measured confidence in a major U.S. institution in the single digits."

Don't know that much about this bill but I do know it was universally rejected by Democrats today and several Republicans voted against it too.
It won't be getting a vote up or down. They couldn't get the majority of 60 they needed to bring it to the floor.

Obama was wrong again and thank goodness a coalition of progressives and real conservatives shot him down on this one.

American workers won this one.
