| http://news.sciencemag.org/environment/2015/02/new-map-shows-americas-quietest-places?rss=1 Surprisingly, Orange Beach has a noise ordinance, but it does not include trucks, motorcycles, or screeching WOOOO HOOOOOing Bama women (the number one reason it lights up yellow on the map above). | |

| Just returned from the north Georgia mountains...sooo peaceful. Looks like my little neck of the woods in Niceville is quiet. Well...except for the AF jets. But that's only a few times a week. | |

| The trucks are simply beyond belief. You can literally hear some of them 2 miles away | |

| Our favorite spot for beach time is Henderson Beach State Park. Just over the bridge and around the corner from Niceville. Those big ol' LOUD cigar boats come roaring through the Gulf breaking the serenity of the quiet beach. I don't see the need.

| The Blues regularly "smoke" us while surfing. Whats cool is you. Can't hear them when they are coming straight at you until they are past you lol. A Marine told me about how they use this in combat...it's really freaky when they do it | |

| I once saw the B2 stealth bomber over a cornfield in Kansas - not far from where we lived at Ft. Riley. I rounded a curve in the mom-van and there it was pretty low over the field. I slammed on breaks, don't know why, and yelled to the kids "Look it's the Stealth!" My son said, "Can't be...we can see it."

| Now thats funny!
When you get really deep out in the backcountry it is amazing how silent it is! And peace comes from this silence. There really is such a thing as noise pollution and I think it robs us of peace even when we don't realize it. After a day deep in the forests mountains you come out totally changed. | |

| Just spent the weekend in the mountains, private land, 123 acres. Amazingly quiet. Of course the breeze rustling in the trees, the bubbling water over the rocks, occasional bird calls...but quiet. The kind of quiet where we didn't want the tv or music. Just rocking chairs on the porch watching the mountains.
