The FAA is going to have some pretty strict rules. A regular pilot's license, a 400-foot ceiling, and line-of-sight flights only.
A farmer that wants to check his crops or cows out in the "back forty" won't be able to use his drone for that. And getting a pilot's license is an overkill requirement for farmers. Utility companies have been using drones to check on their transmission lines, and a 400-foot ceiling isn't feasible for them.
Here's an article on it. http://www.wired.com/2014/11/rural-pilots-wont-happy-faas-new-drone-rules/
I'm not sure if the pilot requirement will apply to hobbyists. R/C airplanes don't require a pilot's license.
I would like to have a drone, but just can't see spending that much money for a toy that won't get much use.
Does anybody here have a drone? If so, what do you do with it?
